School Board races in Florida are non-partisan races…meaning that the ballots will not indicate the candidate political party. Also, this means that all voters, regardless of political party, get to vote in school board races.
Political parties of the candidates are provided here as a matter of informing voters.
Note: District 1 race only has two candidates, meaning that the winner of this August election will be seated on the Brevard School Board.
Districts 2 and 5 have three candidates in each district race…meaning that if no single candidate wins 50% + 1 vote of the vote in August, the top two vote getters in each district race will move on to the November election for a runoff. If any single candidate does get 50% + 1 in the August election, that candidate will be seated on the school board.
In other words: VOTE ON AUGUST 18TH!!

We have a great opportunity to restore sanity! We can elect candidates who know the public school system and want to improve it.
And get rid of the folks who mostly just want to stiff the teachers and funnel money into charter schools. Yes Virginia all the Moms for Liberty candidates take cash from charter school millionaires. And don’t think charter schools should be at all regulated. Never mention that teacher salaries are the worst in the nation. Deny there is an exodus of teachers from Brevard County Schools. Don’t talk about graduation rates or student achievement
Less money for teachers. More for the billionaires who franchise charters. Dress it up as a culture war.
Thank you Brevard Public School Watch! And thank you candidates who are working hard and running against the money! Vote August 18! Or in early voting next week.
I vote in District 5 and will vote for Cecilia Trotter. She is level headed and diligent. She has been teaching in public schools for 19 years and knows what we need to save our schools and make them better.
Read the candidate profiles and see who you like! Vote!
